FAQs

If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch. Some common queries are listed below.

Getting Here
Grangewood Guitar can be difficult to find on your first visit due to the rural location. However, it is very convenient to access from the A444, M42 and A5. Please allow a bit of extra time to allow for getting lost if you are unsure of the area. The easiest way to navigate is via google maps, search for Grangewood Guitar Swadlincote.

There is ample parking on the driveway. Unfortunately we are not easy to access via public transport.

Teaching Elsewhere
I also teach in Derby on Thursday / Friday evenings at Classical Guitar Academy
If you would prefer to be taught elsewhere I am open to discussions and will charge an additional 45p per mile to cover travel expenses incurred.

Payment
I accept payments by cash, cheque or online transfer. The first lesson is free. Thereafter, payment is to be made during or before the lesson. For a block-booking discount, a down payment must be made during or before the first lesson of the block.

Prices
Prices are subject to annual review and do not include teaching resources such as instruments, music and accessories or external examinations. The student will be expected to cover these costs themselves. However, if you are struggling to afford your lessons or equipment please feel free to discuss this with me as I may be able to loan equipment on occasion or negotiate prices if appropriate.

Cancellation
Lessons will be charged at the normal rate unless 24 hours’ notice is given. Providing you give sufficient notice, I will try my best to rearrange the lesson, depending on availability. If for some reason I need to cancel, I will try to give as much notice as possible and either reschedule the lesson or if this is not possible, offer a refund if required.

Block Booking
Block booking will sometimes be available and offer a discounted price e.g. 30% off when you book 6 x hour lessons. This offer is subject to an advance payment and weekly pre-arranged lessons, to be used within a maximum of two months. This would be a total of £126 for 6 1-hour lessons instead of £180.

DBS – Criminal Record Check
I am on the DBS update service and have clear enhanced criminal record checks to work with adults and children. This shows that I have no spent or unspent convictions, cautions, reprimands and final warnings or any information held by local police that’s considered relevant to the role.

Lateness
So much of music relies on timing and this includes arriving at lessons. Part of learning to be a musician is understanding the importance of punctuality and dedication. If you are running late to your lesson please let me know as soon as possible and unfortunately I will not be able to extend the lesson as a result. If you have exceptional circumstances I am always happy to discuss these but cannot guarantee they will be accommodated.

Additional Requirements
If you have any additional requirements or considerations please let me know as I am happy to try and accommodate individual needs as much as possible.
